A basic manicure is designed to re-hydrate, file, shape, and groom the natural nail. Nails are finished with a polish of your choice. An upgrade to gel polish is available.
Basic manicures start with a trimming of the fingernails. The fingernails are smoothed using a nail file, and any nail polish is removed. Fingertips are then placed in a manicure bowl that covers the nails just beyond the cuticle for about five minutes. Hands are dried, the cuticle is gently pushed back and dead skin is removed from the nail. Base coat polish, colored nail polish and top coat polish are applied to the nails, and any excess polish is wiped away prior to the polish being given time to dry.
Spa manicures include the same steps as above, but offer a few extra steps. After the basic manicure steps, the spa technician exfoliates clients' hands and performs a hand massage as well. Nails are buffed, brushed and polish is applied.
Upgrade to gel polish with either option. Gel polishes are popular because the coating is thinner and looks more natural, there's no dry-time or smudging, and the nails stay shiny and chip-resistant for weeks.
